"Organist, at Your Service"

By Tim Rishton
Available now!
A small boy unwillingly takes on the job of church organist, and the key to the building turns out to be the unexpected key to a future filled with joy, comedy and adventure around the churches and concert halls of Europe – and to a life among the fjords, islands and mountains of Arctic Norway.
This entertaining book from Tim Rishton charts the first years of that intriguing life.
"Organist, at Your Service" is a fun and volume of stories and memories of hilarious and frequently embarassing concert experiences and travels, yet it offers insights into lesser-visited areas of the world, especially for organists. Numerous illustrations help paint the picture of what can be a demanding life and landscape, coupled with the joy of music.

Tim is a distinguished academic, with doctorate, senior university posts and expertise in historic performance practice; he is author of books and articles galore, but all this knowledge is used for only one purpose: to bring music to life. Tim chooses to live at an absurdly remote farm way out in the mountains of Norway in order to keep his feet firmly on the ground, but from there he travels to give concerts and lectures in many countries – most frequently in Bach’s home district of Thüringen in Germany.
